Food, My Life, Recaps

4th of July Recap

This 4th of July was really special for our family this year. Bryant is old enough to really enjoy holidays, and watching him experience everything for the first time is truly one of the greatest joys of my life!

I especially loved watching him and our nephew Mack play together this year! I am so thankful we were able to make so many great memories and I wanted to write it all down before I forget!

Friday, July 3rd

My sisters arrived from Atlanta after lunch and we immediately started chatting and enjoying some snacks. Talking and eating– what we do best! : )

At some point over the weekend I realized this was the first time we had all been together since 2019! Corona Virus really did a number on our usual family traditions, so I really savored this weekend.

At the last minute I decided to make this patriotic charcuterie board using things from my fridge. I thought it turned out so pretty!

I asked my sister to grab a bag of these chips from Trader Joe’s after I saw someone raving about them on Instagram. They were soooo delish! I wish we had a Trader Joe’s closer to home.

For supper, we decided to have a good old fashioned hot dog roast! B grilled out and my mom got all the best toppings together. We had the traditional stuff like mustard and ketchup, but we also had fun stuff like pimento cheese and pickled okra. I love a good toppings bar, so my heart was happy.

Bryant had his first hot dog and thoroughly enjoyed it… He is my son after all : )

Saturday, July 4th

Happy Independence Day!

Like any good Instagram mother, I had to have a photo shoot with my little firecracker in his holiday outfit!

Y’all. There are few things cuter than a baby in overalls. And seeing my own child in them brings my heart so much joy!

The boys rode around in the “deer truck” for about 1000 miles before they had finally had enough. Seeing them ride together and giggle the entire time was so precious! I just wanted to bottle it up.

We all packed up and headed to the pool Saturday afternoon, but heading to the pool 30 minutes before Bryant’s naptime was probably not the smartest move… The meltdown was inevitable! But, what can you do? At least I got a cute picture in his swimsuit…

After we got home, showered and rested up, it was time for BBQ and fireworks!

B has really mastered the smoker, so the BBQ was phenomenal! He started it at about midnight on Friday night and it smoked all day Saturday. It was probably the best one he’s ever made…

Always time for a photo! Our family photo was an epic fail, but at least we got a cute picture of these sweet cousins!

I’m honestly shocked we didn’t have the police called on us for this EPIC fireworks show in our neighborhood. I think everyone’s inner redneck shines a little bit brighter on the 4th of July, don’t you? ; )

Mack absolutely LOVED the fireworks this year! And Bryant slept through them like a champ — Sound machine on HIGH for the win!
